Mold/Tooling Design

Mold design is one of the most critical aspects of producing a quality molded product. We work closely with our customers to determine the material. production requirements, part cost and tolerances to determine the type of tooling that is best suited for our customers needs. From soft tooling using epoxy and composites, to harder materials such as aluminum or steel.

In the reaction injection molding process, polyurethane is injected into a mold to produce high quality plastic products. To accomplish this task, sophisticated RIM equipment is required to handle the mixing, heating and metering of the chemical components that make up polyurethane just prior to its injection into the mold. The advantage of utilizing a polyurethane RIM system is that it can be configured to produce a final product that is foam or solid. and can vary from flexible to rigid.

Finished RIM parts are durable, chemically resistant, wear resistant. low weight and have high insulation values. Part created by reaction injection molding include bumpers for vehicles. steering wheels, dashboards, skis and snow boards, footwear, ice chests, sporting goods. car seats, refrigerator insulation, decorative moldings, and mannequins.

Throughout our manufacturing process, strict procedural guidelines are followed to obtain optimum Physical Properties on the products we manufacture. Our Production Control team monitors all mold temperatures to ensure stable shrinkage factors enabling us to achieve closer tolerances on our urethane products. Each day all our processing and curing equipment is calibrated and monitored to see that the proper stoichiomery is achieved on every cast. We also archive all critical information such as cure temperature, cure date, and material lot number of each resin used in every days production to see that we have total documentation throughout our manufacturing process.

In our Quality Control Department, we maintain quality measuring instruments that are regularly calibrated and checked each day. Every product is visually and dimensionally inspected to the customer's specifications, then the durometer and tolerance of the product is documented and filed for each day's production.
Our quality control team is committed to excellence; we continue to maintain a return rate of less than .5% on the products our customers have given us the opportunity manufacture.
